SHORT TITLE, 111i5 chapter may be cited as the Public Funds Investment Act. <br />Amended by Acts 1995, 74th Leg" ch. 402, Sec. l, efr. Sept. 1, 1995. <br /> <br />Sec. 2256,002, DEFll'iITIONS. In this chapter: <br /> <br />(I ) "Bond proceeds" means the pmceeds fl'om the sale ofoonds. notes, and other obligations issucu by <br />an entity. and reserves and funds maintained by an entitj for debt :iervice purposes. <br /> <br />(2) "Book value" mearlS the original acquisition cust of an investment plus or minus the <lecrued <br />amortiwtion ur accretion, <br /> <br />(3) "Funds" means public funds in the custody <Jf a state agency <Jr local government that: <br />(AI are not required by law 10 be dermsited in the state treasury; and <br />(Bj the investing entity has allthoritj, to invest. <br /> <br />(4) "Institution of higher education" has the meaning assigned by Section 6 L003, Educati Oil Code. <br /> <br />(5) "Investing entity" und "entity" mean an entity subject to this chapter and described by St:ction <br /> <br />2256,003. <br /> <br />(6) "Investment pool" means an entity created undenhis code to illvestpublic fundsjoinlly on behalf <br />of the emities thut participate in the pool and wh<Jsc investment objcclives in order of prim it}' afe: <br />(AI preservation and safety of principal: <br />(8) liquidity; and <br />(C) yield. <br /> <br />(7) "Local governmentQ means a municipality, a county, a school district. a district or authority created <br />under SecIi<Jn52(b)( 1) or (2), Article lU, or Secti<J11 59, Article XVI.
