<br />I <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2006- 65 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING DIVISION 15 OF ARTICLE 3 OF <br />CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE <br />COMPOSITION AND DUTIES OF THE CONVENTION AND <br />VISITOR BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD; INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The Convention and Visitor Bureau Advisory Board (the "Board"), established by City <br />Code Section 2.351, oversees the tourism promotional activities of the San Marcos Area <br />Chamber of Commerce, which are funded with City hotel occupancy taxes. <br /> <br />2. The City Council wishes to make revisions to the composition and duties of the Board. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Division 15 of Article 3 of Chapter 2 of the City Code is amended as <br />follows (underlining indicates added text; o';erstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />, <br />DIVISION 13. CONVENTION AND VISITOR BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />Sec. 2.351. Created; composition; terms; officers. <br /> <br />(a) The convention and visitor bureau advisory board is created, composed of 12 .g <br />voting members appointed by the city council as described in subsection (b), and six fWe <br />non-voting ex-officio members: the city manager, the president of the San Marcos Area <br />Chamber of Commerce, the chair and a vice-chair of the board of the San Marcos Area <br />Chamber of Commerce, the president of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of <br />Commerce, and the economic develoopment director of Economic Development San <br />Marcos. <br /> <br />(b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the <br />following groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />No. of <br />a ointments <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />Representing <br /> <br />Cit Council (Council Member) <br />Hotel/motel indust in the cit <br />Owners/general managers/senior management of hotels/motels in the <br />cit (90 or more rooms) <br />
