Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present <br />With a quorum present, a Special Meeting of the San Marcos City Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Daniel Guerrero at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2012 in the Council Chambers of <br />the City of San Marcos City Hall, 630 East Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br />3. Consider approval of Ordinance 2012 -39, on emergency, ordering a General and <br />Special Election to be held on November 6, 2012 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, <br />City Council Member for Place 5, and a City Council Member for Place 6; and to <br />present a Non - Binding Proposition regarding the acquisition of 70 acres of land, more <br />or less, in the Caves's Camp area for park and recreation purposes to the voters; <br />establishing early voting locations and polling places for this Election; making <br />provisions for conducting the Election; declaring an emergency; and providing an <br />effective date. <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Thomason and a Second by Council <br />Member Becak, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to approve <br />Ordinance 2012 -39 to include the three separate propositions on the November 6, 2012 ballot as <br />presented by Staff. The motion carried unanimously. <br />
