Memorandum of Understanding <br />City of San Marcos <br />Hays County <br />Texas Parks and Wildlife Department <br />Texas State University — San Marcos <br />The Memorandum of Understanding is entered into by and between the City of San Marcos <br />(the "City "), Hays County (the "County "), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ("TPWD ") and <br />Texas State University — San Marcos (the "University "). (Collectively the four entities will be <br />referred to as the "Parties ".) <br />It is the goal of the parties to protect and interpret the natural resources found in and around <br />Spring Lake and the San Marcos River. <br />This MOU has been developed by the parties to promote and facilitate planning for an <br />interpretive and educational center at the headwaters of the San Marcos River to inform the public <br />about the natural and cultural resources found in and around the San Marcos River, to educate the <br />public on how to protect and preserve these important resources, to encourage and enhance research <br />efforts regarding resources found in Spring Lake and the San Marcos River, and to inform the <br />public about the recreation opportunities available at the site. Moreover, the interpretive and <br />educational center will enhance research and public outreach to protect freshwater resources <br />throughout the State of Texas. <br />This MOU is designed to assure that all planning for this effort proceed in a manner that is <br />fully supportive of the missions of the four parties. <br />Any of the parties may terminate its participation in activities associated with this MOU by <br />notifying the other parties in writing. <br />Hays County: <br />Will Conley, Commissioner Precinct 3 <br />Texas Parks and Wildlife Department: <br />Ross Melinchuk, Deputy Executive Director <br />Natural Resources <br />ity of San Marcos: <br />ame use, City Manager <br />Texas State University — San Marcos <br />William Nance, Vice President for <br />Finance and Support Services <br />
