Memorandum of Understanding City of San Marcos Hays County Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Texas State University — San Marcos The Memorandum of Understanding is entered into by and between the City of San Marcos (the "City "), Hays County (the "County "), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department ("TPWD ") and Texas State University — San Marcos (the "University "). (Collectively the four entities will be referred to as the "Parties ".) It is the goal of the parties to protect and interpret the natural resources found in and around Spring Lake and the San Marcos River. This MOU has been developed by the parties to promote and facilitate planning for an interpretive and educational center at the headwaters of the San Marcos River to inform the public about the natural and cultural resources found in and around the San Marcos River, to educate the public on how to protect and preserve these important resources, to encourage and enhance research efforts regarding resources found in Spring Lake and the San Marcos River, and to inform the public about the recreation opportunities available at the site. Moreover, the interpretive and educational center will enhance research and public outreach to protect freshwater resources throughout the State of Texas. This MOU is designed to assure that all planning for this effort proceed in a manner that is fully supportive of the missions of the four parties. Any of the parties may terminate its participation in activities associated with this MOU by notifying the other parties in writing.
