Section 3. Education and Firefighter Certification Incentive Pay <br />Effective October 1, 2012, the City will provide incentive payments to Firefighters as outlined below for <br />education or Certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Monthly incentive payments are <br />limited to the highest single limit of education or certification. A maximum cap of $100 shall also apply. <br />EDUCATION: <br />Associate <br />$50 <br />Bachelor <br />$75 <br />Master <br />$100 <br />Section 4. Advanced EMS Certification <br />CERTIFICATION: <br />Intermediate $50 <br />Advance $75 <br />Master $100 <br />Effective October 1, 2012, the City will provide monthly incentive payment to firefighters who possess <br />and maintain a current Advanced EMS certification as outlined below: <br />EMT— Intermediate $ 75 <br />EMT— Paramedic $150 <br />Section S. Administration <br />The City shall establish procedures for the administration of the premium pay. Firefighters will be <br />responsible for submitting for pay premium payments. All certifications must be current to receive <br />premium pay. <br />Section 6. Preemption <br />To the extent of any conflict, the provisions of this Article preempt TLGC Chapter 141, 142 and 143, <br />including Section 141.032, 141.033, 143.038, 143.041, and any state statute, local ordinance, executive <br />order, civil service provision or rule adopted by the head of the Fire Department, the City of San Marcos <br />or by a division or agent of the City such as a personnel board or civil service commission as per TLGC <br />Section 142.117. <br />Page 10 <br />
