<br /> 96 <br /> - <br /> - <br /> ORDINANCE 1998- 16 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLE 3, FIRE DEPARTMENT, <br /> OF CHAPTER 62, PUBLIC SAFETY, OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY <br /> CODE TO ADD A NEW DIVISION 3 FOR SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT <br /> SERVICES FOR MANAGEMENT OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> RESERVE PROGRAM; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br /> PROVISIONS. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. Article 3, Fire Department, of Chapter 62, Public Safety, of the San <br /> Marcos City Code is amended by adding Division 3 to read as follows: <br /> DIVISION 3. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT SERVICES-RESERVE PROGRAM <br /> MANAGEMENT <br /> Sec. 62.226. Purposes. <br /> The purposes of this division are to: <br /> (1) To create an effective selection, assignment and incentive program <br /> for fire fighters who manage the fire department's reserve program; <br /> and <br /> (2) To provide a uniform rate of pay for specialized services. <br /> Sec. 62.227. Assignments; qualifications; duties. <br /> (a) A fire department employee who serves in the rank of captain may be <br /> selected and assigned by the fire chief to perform special assignment services <br /> under this division. <br /> (b) Services performed under this division will be in addition to the normal <br /> duties of the employee. <br /> (c) The duties of the person assigned to special services under this <br /> division include the recruitment, training, assignment and supervision of all <br /> reserve program personnel of the department. <br /> Sec. 62.228. Compensation. <br /> Special assignment reserve program managers shall be compensated at a <br /> rate set by city council, in addition to regular pay, for performing special <br /> assignment services under this division. <br /> Sec. 62.229. Status. <br /> Fire department employees performing special assignment reserve program <br /> management services are in an on-duty status with full workers' compensation, <br /> health and medical, disability, pension and retirement coverages and benefits <br /> and all other related coverages and benefits. These employees shall obey all <br /> laws, rules, regulations and policies of the city and all other applicable <br /> jurisdictions in the performance of special assignment services under this <br /> division. <br /> SECTION 2. The rate of pay for Fire Department Special Assignment Services- <br /> Reserve Program Management is set under City Code Section 62.228 at $1 DD.DD/month. <br />
