<br /> ATTACHMENT B <br /> B. Work Program of SUBCONTRACTOR <br /> This funding will continue the Central Texas Household Hazardous Waste Mobile program under <br /> the management of the City of San Marcos. The regional household hazardous waste program <br /> was designed by several CAPCO communities and has conducted several HHW events since <br /> 1996. <br /> The purpose of the program is to provide affordable household hazardous waste collection to four <br /> other smaller communities and districts. HHW collection events have historically been too <br /> expensive for small communities to implement The HHW program will be accomplished through a <br /> series of one-day collection events using a mobile unit to reduce cost to communities. <br /> The program's educational and promotional components will be delivered through local <br /> newspapers, billing inserts, neigHborhood newsletter, posters at local business, special mailings, <br /> and handout at community events. Both components are designed to educate adults and school <br /> children on the hazards of improper disposal of HHW, identification of such waste, and offer <br /> participants samples of alternative non-toxic products. Educational materials on HHW are to be <br /> distributed in grades 1-6 and utilize older youth groups to participate as HHW event volunteers. <br /> . Pro!!ram Activities - On!!oing durin!! Grant Term <br /> Conduct a series of collection events, and educational related activities as outlined in the <br /> above description. During the grant term at least five (5) separate one-day collection events <br /> will be held. <br /> Note: Program activities and deliverables must conform to the project description and \\ork plan <br /> submitted in the original application, reviewed by the CAPCO Solid Waste Management Advisory <br /> Committee, and approved by the CAPCO Executive Committee and the Texas Natural Resource <br /> Conservation Commission.
