<br /> 175 <br /> RESOLUTION 1998-139 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE <br /> SUBMISSION OF GRANT REQUESTS BY THE LYNDON BAINES <br /> JOHNSON MUSEUM OF SAN MARCOS; AND DECLARING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. The Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos intends to apply to <br /> various sources for grant funding to renovate an old theater building in downtown San <br /> Marcos for the purpose of creating a museum in honor of the late President. <br /> 2. President Johnson was an alumnus of Southwest Texas State University and <br /> a citizen of San Marcos, and it is the intention of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of <br /> San Marcos to present his life in a more complete manner depicting his Texas Hill Country <br /> upbringing and formative years spent in the City of San Marcos. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The City Council supports grant funding requests by the Lyndon <br /> Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos to the maximum extent possible. <br /> PART 2. The City is willing to provide assistance to the Lyndon Baines Johnson <br /> Museum of San Marcos as may be required to make this project a success for the <br /> community, county and state. <br /> PART 3. The City Council authorizes the Mayor and City Manager to provide <br /> letters of support and technical assistance as may be required. <br /> PART 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage. <br /> ADOPTED this 27th day of July, 1998 J~~~ ~ <br /> Billy G.
