<br /> 84 <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> STATE OF TEXAS <br /> COUNTY OF HAYS <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. The City of San Marcos desires to enter into a contract with the San Marcos Hispanic <br /> Chamber of Commerce for fiscal year 1998-99 in order to promote orderly and responsible <br /> economic development for the San Marcos geographic area. <br /> This agreement is made by and between the City of San Marcos, Texas ("City"), and <br /> the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ("Chamber"). <br /> 1. OBLIGATIONS OF THE CHAMBER <br /> A. The Chamber will conduct and administer an economic development program <br /> which has as its mission serving as a connection to local, national and international Hispanic <br /> markets to stimulate economic development in the City of San Marcos. The Chamber shall <br /> accomplish this mission through the following activities: <br /> 1. Coordinate support services for established businesses, such as <br /> counseling, seminars and assistance. <br /> 2. Assist in marketing the City of San Marcos in local, national and <br /> international Hispanic markets. <br /> 3. Maintain a full-time staff to assist in the coordination of economic <br /> development activities of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce <br /> and the Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council and to <br /> assist in working prospects. <br /> 4. Utilize the Texas Business Center and the Internet to provide lead <br /> opportunities on employment and contracting. <br /> B. The Chamber shall provide necessary skilled and knowledgeable personnel, <br /> equipment and supplies for the administration and operation of its economic development <br /> program, in accordance with the budget approved by the City. <br />
