Sector Two Chapter 2 - Today <br />Community Facilities <br />Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service Protection <br />Sector Two is located in the Edward Police Patrol District. Fire protection in Sector Two <br />is provided from the Holland Street Station at the intersection of Holland Street and <br />Academy Street. Emergency Medical Service is provided by San Marcos /Hays County <br />EMS. <br />Water and Wastewater Systems <br />Water and wastewater service throughout the city is provided by the City of San Marcos. <br />There are three water storage tanks located within Sector Two; one at the San Marcos <br />City Cemetery, another on Midway Street between Hood Street and Alto Street, and a <br />new tank just west of town on Ranch Road 12 that provides improved water pressure to <br />the area. There are several large waterlines that serve Sector Two: the largest (16 ") runs <br />along the south side of Ranch Road 12 and numerous 8" and 12" waterlines that run <br />throughout the Oak Heights, Westover and Southwest Hills neighborhoods. The two <br />major sewer lines (10 ") that serve Sector Two run along Bishop Street and Columbia <br />Avenue until they connect to a sewer line on Prospect Street. <br />Electric Service <br />Electric service is provided by the City of San Marcos. <br />Solid Waste Collection <br />The City of San Marcos contracts with Browning- Ferris Industries (BFI) to provide <br />residential garbage collection in the area. Commercial establishments, duplexes on <br />Hazelton Street, Scheib Opportunity Center, and some others, contract with private <br />collection companies. <br />Natural Gas <br />Entex, Inc. is the supplier of natural gas in San Marcos. <br />Education <br />The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) has one public <br />school located in Sector Two, Crockett Elementary School at the intersection of Clyde <br />Street and Girard Street. There is one private school -the San Marcos Adventist Junior <br />Academy - located at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Ranch Road 12. <br />Adopted: July 23, 2001 2 -18 <br />
