If} Wi/Tel 4'-?:
A Williams
Communications Group
Company
Project scope of work
WilTel has prepared a response to the requirements presented by the City of
San Marcos. The response includes hardware and services to implement and
support the proposed network. The goal of this network is to connect the
: Municipal Building Complex with five remote facilities. This network will
: allow users to share common facilities and network resources. The site list,
equipment schedule, network diagram and service description detail the
response.
Network Design
The proposed network includes hardware manufactured by Cisco Systems,
Digital Link, US Robotics and Compaq. The hardware has been configured
to meet the stated workstation requirements. All workstations will connect
directly to a Cisco work group switching product. The locally connected
switches will have a 100MB up link to a backbone switch. The backbone
switch will connect workgroup switches and servers in a 100 BT backbone.
Remote locations will be supported via T 1 connection to remote Routers.
These Routers will connect to a chassis based router. This router is
configured with three slots. These slots will be configured with a 6 port
Ethernet and 2- 4 port serial cards. The spare capacity of this router will be
5 Ethernet connections and 4 serial connections. All of these Routers will be
supported by Cisco IOS ll.xx software code configured for IP routing only.
Servers
There are two Compaq ProLiant 2500 servers proposed. These servers are
proposed with a single 200M HZ processors with the ability to support a
second in each. The base configuration will support up to 5- 1.0' hard drives
for a maximum total of 21.5 GB. WilTel recommends a minimum of three
drives per server. This configuration will allow the implementation of RAID
5 fonnatting for multi-drive backup. This method is preferred to mirroring
from both a reliability and perfonnance standpoint.
