Two positions of Police Officer in the Police Department are added <br /> in accordance with Section 2.373 of the San Marcos City Code and Section 143.021 of the <br /> Texas Local Government Code. <br /> SECTION 2. The table of positions for each Civil Service Classification in the Police <br /> and Fire Departments kept on file in the City Secretary's office is amended to read as <br /> follows: . <br /> Classification Number of Positions <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> Police Officer (including trainees) 32 <br /> Police Corporal 18 <br /> Police Sergeant 9 <br /> Police Captain 4 <br /> Assistant Chief of Police 1 <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> Firefighters (including trainees) 9 <br /> Driver/Engineer 12 <br /> Fire Lieutenant 6 <br /> Fire Captain 3 <br /> Assistant Fire Chief 1 <br /> SECTION 3. The 1996-97 Budget of the City of San Marcos is amended as shown <br /> on the attached Exhibit A in order to provide funding for the purchase of two vehicles for <br /> the Police Department, and the budget is also amended to revised the authorized <br /> personnel tables in the Police Patrol Division in conformity with Section 1 above. <br /> SECTION 4. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance <br /> is held to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other <br /> provisions of this ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the <br /> invalid portion. <br /> ¡ SECTION 5. All ordinances and resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in <br /> ! conflict with this ordinance are repealed. <br /> SECTION 6. This Ordinance will take effect 10 days after the date of its final <br /> passage, and the City Secretary will publish notice of its adoption in a newspaper of <br /> general circulation in the City. <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading June 23, 1997. <br />
