<br /> Chapter 2 Sector One Today <br /> Community Facilities <br /> Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service Protection <br /> Sector One is located in the Edward Police Patrol District. Fire protection in Sector One <br /> is provided from the Central Station at Hutchinson and Guadalupe Street. Emergency <br /> Medical Service is provided by San Marcos/Hays County EMS. <br /> Water and Wastewater Systems <br /> Water and wastewater service in throughout the city is provided by the City of San <br /> Marcos. There are two large waterlines that serve Sector One: one runs along the east <br /> side of Wonder World Drive and the other runs on the north side of the railroad tracks. <br /> Some residents still have septic systems, but as units are sold, hookup to the city's <br /> wastewater system is required of new owners. <br /> Electric Service <br /> Electric service is provided by the City of San Marcos. <br /> Solid Waste Collection <br /> The City of San Marcos contracts with Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) to provide <br /> residential garbage collection in the area. <br /> Natural Gas <br /> Entex, Inc., is the supplier of natural gas in San Marcos. <br /> Telephone <br /> Century Telephone of San Marcos, Inc. (CTSM). provides telephone service in San <br /> Marcos and surrounding areas. <br /> Cable Television <br /> TCI Cablevision of Texas (TCI) offers cable television service to the San Marcos area. <br /> Education <br /> The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) has two public <br /> schools located in Sector One: Hernandez Intermediate School (fifth and sixth grades) <br /> and Dorie Miller Junior High School (seventh grade).
