. - ø9ß
Mr. Stephen Jenkins, P .E. -
April 3, 1996
Page 3
8. Applicable geotechnical related construction specifications; and
9. General discussions concerning constructability considerations such as excavatability,
groundwater, and temporary excavation support and slopes. Specifically excluded from
our scope of work is a trench safety system and temporary excavation system support
designs. These items are the sale responsibility of the contractor under current Texas
law.
The previously described services will be perfonned at the unit prices shown on the attached fee
schedule. A budget summary for this investigation is as follows:
FieldOperations................... $ 7,537.00
LaboratoryTesting................. 3,721.00
Engineering and Report. . . . . . . . . . . . . 10.478.00
TotalEstimate .................... $21,736.00
I recommend that an estimated maximum budget of $22.000.00 be set for this geot~chnical
investigation. This ma.ximum cost assumes that we have drill truck and support vehicle access to
all boring locations and that the field operations are conducted during a continuous time :!Tame. This
ma.ximum cost also assumes that our work can be conducted during normal work hours. The
ma.ximum budget will not be exceeded without prior approval :!Tom the CLIENT.
At present time, we can mobilize our drilling rig within about 5 days after notice to proceed. The
field operations will take about 6 working days (weather and site access permitting). The laboratory
tests will take about 2 weeks to complete. A draft report can be issued about 2 weeks after
completion of the lab work. Of course, we will be in contact with Black & Veatch on a continuing
basis during the investigation and can provide them v~rbal design information prior to issuance of
the report.
If this proposal is acceptable, please sign and attached AGREEMENT FOR GEOTECHNICAL
ENGINEERING SERVICES and return one copy for our files. We are prepared to put the project
on OUT drilling schedule immediately with verbal authorization.
Sincerely,
TRlNq:Y ,ENGIN~G. T~SJ CORPORATION
J1~ ß a/V
\ ewis B. Yates, J ., P.E.
Manager of Geotechnical Services
LBY/smg
96-3-10
