7/f)ß
and a third twelve inch line extends west from lli-35 just south of SH-l23. The existina
0
lines provide the ability to receive and to distribute a fairly large amount of water from
input in this area. Additionally, plans call for completion of a twelve inch loop around the
east perimeter of the system. --
Preliminary evaluation indicates that the existing water distribution system appears to be
adequate to receive water f~om the 6 MGD water treatment plant. \Vater from the
treatment plant will enter the system near the Crawford elevated tank, and \X(ill result in the
tank tending to remain full except in periods of heavy demand. Possible future expansion
of the plant to 12 MGD- and 24 MGD will require strengthening of the water distribution
system and/or construction of transmission mains that would both distribute water within
the low pressure plane and convey water to the Midway and Comanche Pumping Stations.
Additionally, the City plan.s twelve inch looping l~nes at the southeast edge of the system..
The planned lines would connect to an existing twelve inch line near SH 123 and the
Crawford elevated tank and would proceed south parallel to and east of IH 35 to McCarty
Lane; twelve inch lines would extend from the planned line east of lli 35 to a planned
twelve inch line in Hunter Road west of lli 35. The planned line in Hunter Road would
connect to an existing sixteen inch line that run.s from the McCarty Lane standpipe to the
distribution system. The planned twelve inch lines are probably adequate; however, the size
of the lines should be reevaluated prior to their construction, as the development along IH
35 south of the City, coupled with the ability of the planned lines to distribute a portion of
the water from the proposed water treatment plant, may justify a larger size for portions of
the planned lines. .
Transmission line routings from the proposed water treatment plant site to the water
distribution system are shown on Figure 2. Line routings and line sizes may change during
final design as right-of-way issues and pumping head/pipeline size are more closely
addressed.
-
C-4
