StUdents in prekinderg¥ten through g.r::de lever six who meet One ~7l1 or more of the tallowlng condItions shJII b{: idèl1tJ;ed as at risk: . did not perfor-m s~tis f;:¡ctorily on a reJdiness test or assessment inslrument administered at the beÇ(inning of the school ye:u-; - - . have failed one or more of the reading, ""Titing, mathematics sections of the most recent TEAAfSfTAA..S test beginning "vith the third grade; . is a student of limited Engfish proficiency. as defined by the Texas Education Code. §21.452; . is sexually. physically, or psychologically abused' based on an imlestigation and confirmation of abuse by the Texas Department of Human Services staff; . engages in conduct described by the Texas Family Code, §5I,OJ(a); or . a student who is pregnant or is a parent. . Students in Grades 7-12 who are below the age of21 years and who meet one or more of the folJowing conc!itions shall be identifIed as at risk: . have not been promoted one or more times in grade 1-6 based on academic criteria and continue to be unable to master the essential elements in the seventh or higher grade level; . are tY,'o or more years below grade- !eve! in reading or mathematics; . have failed at least tv.'o courses in one or mon: semesters and are not exDêcted to graduate within four years of the time they entered the ninth grade; . have failed one or more of the read ing, \.IrTiting, mathematics sections of the most recent TE.A..MSrr AAS test beginning with the seventh grade; . in addition to criteria outlined, the district may consider the environment~l, familia!, economic, social, developmental, and other psycho-socia! factors in determining services where such factor contributes to the student's inability to progress academically; or . a student who is pregnant or is a parent.
