<br /> StUdents in prekinderg¥ten through g.r::de lever six who meet One ~7l1 <br /> or more of the tallowlng condItions shJII b{: idèl1tJ;ed as at risk: <br /> . did not perfor-m s~tis f;:¡ctorily on a reJdiness test or <br /> assessment inslrument administered at the beÇ(inning of <br /> the school ye:u-; - - <br /> . have failed one or more of the reading, ""Titing, <br /> mathematics sections of the most recent TEAAfSfTAA..S <br /> test beginning "vith the third grade; <br /> . is a student of limited Engfish proficiency. as defined by <br /> the Texas Education Code. §21.452; <br /> . is sexually. physically, or psychologically abused' based on <br /> an imlestigation and confirmation of abuse by the Texas <br /> Department of Human Services staff; <br /> . engages in conduct described by the Texas Family Code, <br /> §5I,OJ(a); or <br /> . a student who is pregnant or is a parent. <br /> . <br /> Students in Grades 7-12 who are below the age of21 years and <br /> who meet one or more of the folJowing conc!itions shall be <br /> identifIed as at risk: <br /> . have not been promoted one or more times in grade 1-6 <br /> based on academic criteria and continue to be unable to <br /> master the essential elements in the seventh or higher <br /> grade level; <br /> . are tY,'o or more years below grade- !eve! in reading or <br /> mathematics; <br /> . have failed at least tv.'o courses in one or mon: semesters <br /> and are not exDêcted to graduate within four years of the <br /> time they entered the ninth grade; <br /> . have failed one or more of the read ing, \.IrTiting, <br /> mathematics sections of the most recent TE.A..MSrr AAS <br /> test beginning with the seventh grade; <br /> . in addition to criteria outlined, the district may consider <br /> the environment~l, familia!, economic, social, <br /> developmental, and other psycho-socia! factors in <br /> determining services where such factor contributes to the <br /> student's inability to progress academically; or <br /> . a student who is pregnant or is a parent. <br />
