One of the items included in the bid was the mechanically cleaned bar screen <br /> mechanism for the new headworks facility for the wastewater treatment plant. Two bids were <br /> received for this equipment: <br /> Vulcan Industries, Inc. $76,895.00 . <br /> FMC Corporation $82,573.00 <br /> Both companies included their standard terms and conditions as part of their proposal. FMC <br /> Corporation specifically excluded freight charges to the project. Their proposed delivery time was <br /> also unacceptable in consideration of the schedule for construction of this part of the plant. The <br /> FMC Corporation bid should be considered as non-responsive. <br /> We have contacted Vulcan Industries, Inc through their authorized representative, W.D. Graue, Inc., <br /> about the referenced terms and conditions and have received the attached letter confmning that they <br /> will accept the terms and conditions of the ProcuremeJ?t Documents. The proposal is for one of the <br /> specified bar screen manufacturers. We recommend award of this contract to Vulcan Industries, Inc. <br /> for the bid amount of $ 76,895.00. This recommendation is based on our review of the bid <br /> documents as well as commentS from Black & Veatch regarding technical provisions included in the <br /> bid documentS.
