<br /> 130 <br /> - <br /> RESOLUTION 1996- 155R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A CONTRACT <br /> BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE SAN MARCOS AREA. <br /> CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION <br /> I OF HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX FUNDS DURING THE CITY'S <br /> 1996-97 FISCAL YEAR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE THIS CONTRACT; AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. The State Legislature has authorized Texas cities to collect an occupancy tax on <br /> hotel and motel rooms and has approved certain expenditures from the proceeds of this <br /> occupancy tax in Chapter 351 Texas Tax Code. <br /> 2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos has levied a hotel occupancy tax in <br /> Article 5 of Chapter 78 of the San Marcos City Code. . <br /> 3. The City Council wishes to contract with the San Marcos Area Chamber of <br /> Commerce for the administration of a portion of the funds collected from the hotel <br /> occupancy tax. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> t PART 1. The Convention and Visitors Bureau budget of the San Marcos Area <br /> 1 <br /> ; <br /> Chamber of Commerce for the 1996-97 fiscal year, a copy of which is attached to the <br /> contract approved in Part 2 below, is approved. <br /> PART 2. The terms and conditions of the attached Contract for Tourism <br /> Promotional Services between the City of San Marcos, Texas, and the San Marcos Area <br /> Chamber of Commerce for the administration of funds collected under Article 5 of Chapter <br /> 78 of the City Code and Chapter 351, Texas Tax Code, are approved. <br /> PART 3. The City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is authorized to execute this contract <br /> on behalf of the City of San Marcos. <br /> PART 4.
