<br /> \ <br /> ~ <br /> \ <br /> \ <br /> OFFICE OF THE FIRE MARSHAL <br /> CAUSE AND ORIGIN REPORT <br />SUBJECT <br /> Cause and Origin of commercial structure listed as the <br />"Old Coca-Cola Plant" located at 215 w. San Antonio, San <br />Marcos, Hays County, Texas. Listed as suspicious in nature. <br />HISTORY <br /> The structure was a approximately 40 year old, two <br />story, cinder block frame building with combination 1 X 2 <br />panel siding/wood shingle siding veranda. Attached was a <br />warehouse with steel beam trusses and corrugated tin roof on <br />both structures. It was constructed on concrete type <br />foundation with a basement. A veranda was constructed in <br />1976 with wood siding and a shingle composition roof. This <br />veranda connected both buildings together. <br /> Climate control was provided by a portable heating and <br />air conditioning systems with a furnace unit located along <br />the north end of the bathroom. Electrical utilities were <br />provided by the City of San Marcos. Gas service was provided <br />by Entex Gas co.. Both entered the dwelling through the East <br />exterior wall. Both gas and electric utilities were not in <br />operation prior to the fire. <br /> This single family dwelling was situated in a <br />commercial district in the central part of San Marcos and <br />was bordered by similar dwellings. No other structures were <br />damaged as a result of this fire. <br /> There were no intrusion'or fire alarm system in <br />operation at the time of the loss. <br /> This structure had been unoccupied for nine years prior <br />to this fire. <br /> This structure has been under contract to be sold to <br />the City of San Marcos since September of 1993. The sale was <br />to proceed at the city council meeting one hour after the <br />this call originated. <br />WEATHER <br /> Overcast with light cloud accumulation. Airport <br />temperature registered 89 degrees. Humidity was at 20%. <br />EXTERIOR <br /> The on-scene examination was conducted on April 25, <br />1994, with photographs, sketch, and samples taken at this <br />
