i 12 lilt V ~ Wnr;fp;i)..c Toll Fraud Alert In the last few years, toll fraud has grown dramatically and poses a serious risk to each customer's telecornrnUIÚcations operations. Simply stated, toll fraud involves the UIÙawful use of telecornrnUIÚcations (most often long-distance voice circuits) through customer premise equipment, i. e. your phone system. PREVENTING TOLL FRAUD IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. WILTEL IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES YOU MAY INCUR THROUGH THE UNAUTHORIZED USE OF YOUR SYSTEM. ASSISTANCE FROM WILTEL ~ - - Although WllTel is not responsible for preventing toll fraud, WilTel stands ready to assist you in a number of ways, ranging Jm recommendations for system configuration to our TollWatch service. ASSISTANCE When WilTel installs your telephone system, WilTel will make specific recommendations to assist you in preventing toll fraud. Since no recommended configuration is foolproof, WilTel cannot and does not guarantee to prevent toll fraud. Some of WilTel's recommendations might include: 1. Using lengthy passwords; 2. Using multiple passwords; 3. Frequently changing the passwords; 4. Always avoiding the use of default passwords; 5. Monitoring closely for indications of abuse; 6. Immediately reporting suspected abuse to your long distance carrier and WilTel; 7. Reconsidering the use of DISA. < TOLLWATCH In order to provide a more tailored service for customers, WilTel has developed TollWatch, a service which monitors international, 800, and other susceptible telecommunications services through WilTel's Technical Assistance Center in Houston (TAG). Your system is monitored through a Sentry device which alerts TAG of certain dialing and use patterns w1úch might suggest that abuse is occurring. TollWatch provides around-the-clock monitoring and professional assessment of and attention to your problems rapidly. Although no guarantee against fraud, TollWatch will assist you remarkably in your vigil to prevent fraud.
