Regular Meeting May 1, 2007 Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />received an update from Global Marketeer Group and the Council provided <br />direction. He stated the Council will finish this discussion at the end of <br />the meeting. <br />Pastor Tom Ray with the Hill Country Church led the City Council and others <br />in an invocation. <br />Mayor Narvaiz led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. No one signed up for <br />Citizen Comment Period. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not <br />have a Staff Report at this time. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Donovan Knight stated <br />he participated in a mock trial for Brenda Butler's class. 2) Donovan <br />Knight stated the Texas Student Government passed legislation supporting <br />proposition one and two on Hays County Bond. 3) Donovan Knight stated the <br />Texas Student Government also passed legislation supporting the integrated <br />bus system. 4) Mr. Guerrero stated he participated in the Mutt Strut on <br />Saturday, April 21, 2007. 5) Mr. Guerrero encouraged the citizens to attend <br />the Cinco de Mayo parade and events on Saturday, May 5, 2007, which are <br />hosted by the San Marcos local LULAC Chapter. He stated he will also be a <br />Judge for the Little Ms. Cinco de Mayo and he also enjoyed cutting of 400 <br />pounds Menudo for the cook off. 6) Mr. Guerrero stated he attended the <br />fundraiser for Men against Violence. 7) Ms. Robertson stated she and Mayor <br />Narvaiz met with our State Representatives at the Capital regarding pumping <br />limits. 8) Ms. Robertson stated she attended the Downtown Master Plan <br />Workshop. 9) Ms. Couch stated she also attended the Downtown Master Plan <br />Workshop and she thanked all the citizens who showed up. 10) Ms. Couch <br />stated she attended ribbon cutting for new Carma Development. She stated <br />she was very excited about this development and what it has to offer San <br />Marcos. 11) Mr. Jones stated he also attended Carma Development ribbon <br />cutting. He stated he feels this development will offer a big benefit for <br />our community. 12) Mr. Jones stated he also went to Downtown Master Plan <br />Workshop. He stated he supports applying funds towards a study and <br />investing for additional downtown parking. 13) Mr. Jones stated he met <br />with an Austin CDBG administrator regarding ideas about affordable housing <br />in San Marcos. He stated he has information he will be providing to Staff. <br />14) Mr. Jones stated he wanted to invite Council to the Moonlight <br />Breakfast, which begins at midnight at Texas State University in Jones <br />Dining Hall. 15) Mayor Narvaiz congratulated Laurie Anderson and Collette <br />Jamison for their appointments of Assistant City Managers. 16) Mayor <br />Narvaiz stated she attended the Hills of Hays Neighborhood meeting.
