<br /> (LIlA <br /> Historic Preservation Commission <br /> Purpose <br /> <br /> To recommend, promote and approve the appropriateness and integrity of the three existing <br /> Historical Districts designated by the City of San Marcos. <br /> I lYIembership <br /> , <br /> The Historic Preservation Commission is composed of seven members. One member must be <br /> a member of the San Marcos Planning Commission. One member will be a resident of San <br /> Marcos having architectural or design expertise. Two members must be residents that <br /> demonstrate an interest in the history of San Marcos. One member must own property or <br /> reside in the San Antonio District, as well as one member who owns or resides in the Belvin <br /> Street District, and one member must O\vll property or a business in the Downto\Vll District. <br /> Typical Duties <br /> <br /> - Recommend to the City Council and conduct studies, research and report on the' <br /> establishment of any new historical district. ~ <br /> - Review general plans and specifications for development or alterations for existing or <br /> proposed structures. <br /> - Approve and issue Certificates of Appropriateness for alterations or proposed <br /> development. <br /> - Recommend use and application of grant funds. <br /> - Promote the historical districts and encourage public/private ventures. <br /> Staff Support Director of Planning and Development Services <br /> Time Commitment <br /> , <br /> Members serve a three year term, with the Planning Commissioner serving a one year term. <br /> This board meets on the first Thursday of every month. <br /> Authoritv: Code of Ordinances, Appendix G, Section 3 <br /> 6/6/95 sunhis <br /> 2.16 <br />
