RESOLUTION 2012 -138R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS <br />DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR FUNDING IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT <br />OF $2.4 MILLION FROM THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION UNDER THE 2012 STATEWIDE <br />TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR A NEW ADA <br />COMPLIANT BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY ADJACENT TO <br />THE SAN MARCOS RIVER CONNECTING THE SAN MARCOS <br />VISITOR'S CENTER WITH THE PROPOSED TEXAS STATE <br />UNIVERSITY -SAN MARCOS VISITOR'S CENTER; APPROVING THE <br />CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $600,000.00; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR <br />HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY DOCUMENTS AND CONTRACTS <br />AS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT AND IMPLEMENT THE AWARD OF <br />FUNDS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to apply for <br />funding in the estimated amount of $2,400,000.00 from the Texas Department of Transportation <br />under the 2012 Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program for a new ADA compliant <br />bicycle and pedestrian pathway adjacent to the San Marcos River connecting the San Marcos <br />Visitor's Center with the proposed Texas State University -San Marcos Visitor's Center. <br />PART 2. The expenditure of local matching funds of $600,000.00 is hereby <br />approved. <br />PART 3. The City Manager is further authorized to execute any documents and <br />contracts necessary to accept and implement the award of said funds on behalf of the City. <br />PART 4.
