RESOLUTION 2012 -146R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE CITY'S FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY ( "FEMA ") HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS THE OFFICIAL PLAN OF THE CITY; AUTHORIZING ITS INCLUSION IN THE HAYS COUNTY LOCAL MITIGATION ACTION PLAN AS AN APPENDIX; DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS THE OFFICIAL AUTHORIZED TO COORDINATE WITH OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND PREPARE AND SUBMIT REPORTS TO THE TEXAS DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. The City of San Marcos, Texas ( "City ") has experienced natural hazards that result in public safety hazards and damage to private and public property; 2. The hazard mitigation planning process set forth by the State of Texas and the Federal Emergency Management Agency ( "FEMA ") offers the opportunity to consider natural hazards and risks, and to identify mitigation actions to reduce future risk. 3. The Texas Division of Emergency Management provided federal mitigation funds to support the update to the mitigation plan. 4. The City has developed a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan which will be added as an Appendix to the Hays County Local Mitigation Action Plan. 5. The Mitigation Planning Committee developed a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan that includes a prioritized list of mitigation actions including activities that, over time, will help minimize and reduce safety threats and damage to private and public property. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The FEMA Hazard Mitigation Plan is hereby adopted as an official plan of City. PART 2. The City departments identified in the Plan are hereby directed to pursue implementation of the recommended high priority activities that are assigned to their departments.
