ATTACHMENT "A" <br />CHAPTER 721 - ROADWAY STANDARDS <br />Sub - Chapter l - Applicability <br />§1.01. Applicability <br />This Chapter shall govern the following items related to Regulated Roadways within the County: <br />(A) The design and construction of all Regulated Roadways as defined in Chapter 701. <br />(B) The minimum roadway widths and building set back lines for Regulated Roadways. <br />§1.02. Legal Authority <br />Legal Authority for adopting and enforcing the regulations in this Chapter is granted to the <br />County under TLGC in Chapters 231, 232 and 234, and under the Texas Transportation Code <br />(TTC) Chapters 251, 286 and 545. <br />§1.03. Approval Required <br />Approval of the Commissioners Court is required prior acceptance by the County of Regulated <br />Roadways. Separate approval is required under Chapter 751 for any use of existing County <br />facilities, including roadway rights -of -way, which are not part of the Application for a <br />Development Authorization. <br />Sub - Chapter 2 - Roadway Classifications <br />§2.01. Basis for Classification <br />Regulated Roadways shall be classified based on the criteria established in "A Policy on <br />Geometric Design of Highways and Streets ", latest edition, as developed by the American <br />Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials ( AASHTO). For the purposes of <br />these Regulations, regulated roadways shall be designed to handle the average daily traffic <br />(ADT) estimated to occur for a period of twenty (20) years following completion of construction <br />of the roadway, with the pavement sections and widths required to accommodate the design <br />ADT at the applicable speed limits adopted by the County. At a minimum, pavement sections <br />and widths shall conform to the suggested minimum requirements established by AASHTO for <br />the specified classification of roadway. Roadways shall also be classified under TTC Chapter <br />251. Roadway classification information is included in Table 721.02. <br />§2.02. Country Lane <br />A Country Lane shall be a one or two lane paved roadway, without improved shoulders, and <br />considered a Special Purpose Road with a design capacity of up to 100 ADT in accordance with <br />AASHTO design standards, and third -class roadways in accordance with TTC Chapter 251. <br />§2.03. Local Roadway <br />A Local Roadway shall be a two lane paved roadway, with improved shoulders or curb and <br />gutter, and considered a Local Rural Road with a design capacity of between 101 and 1,000 ADT <br />in accordance with AASHTO design standards, and third -class roadways in accordance with <br />TTC Chapter 251. <br />
