He stated he feels people come to San Marcos to visit <br />the river and this will hurt tourism. 4) Michael Matott stated he wished <br />to speak on Item ~7, regarding the public hearing on FY 2004 Proposed <br />Budget. He stated he is a member of the Convention and Visitor Bureau. He <br />encouraged the Council not to cut the Main Street program and Convention <br />and Visitors Bureau advertising funds. He stated he feels the Main <br />Street program has helped with the rebuilding of Downtown. He also <br />encouraged the Council to appoint Jan Van Zandt to the Historic <br />Preservation Commission. 5) Camille Phillips stated she wished to speak <br />on Item ~7, regarding the public hearing on FY 2004 Proposed Budget. She <br />encouraged the Council to keep the Greenhouse Center open. She also <br />encouraged the Council to extend the contract of Mark Taylor, City <br />Attorney. She stated Mr. Taylor is an expert on water issues and has an <br />institutional memory in legal matters. 6) Rasmey Mau Raymond stated she <br />wished to speak on Item ~7, regarding the public hearing on FY 2004 <br />Proposed Budget. She stated she has been a resident of San Marcos for 12 <br />years. She stated she is a future horticulturist and she chose Southwest <br />Texas State University for the river. She encouraged the Council to keep <br />the Greenhouse Interpretive Center open. 7) Dianne Wassenich stated she <br />wished to speak on Item ~7, regarding the public hearing on FY 2004 <br />Proposed Budget. She stated the Greenhouse Center should be kept open <br />even on a part-time basis. She stated without the Greenhouse Center, the <br />City could lose grant funding. She also stated she is concerned about the <br />adopt-a-river program and feels there needs to be an employee to <br />coordinate the volunteers. 8) Jack Blundell stated he wished to speak on <br />Item 924, a Resolution regarding the proposed La Hacienda Development. He <br />stated he is representing the La Hacienda Development and he is present to <br />answer any questions the Council might have. 9) Amy Kirwin stated she <br />wished to speak on Item ~31, a discussion regarding modular homes. She <br />stated even though the City cannot regulate modular homes, she feels <br />restrictions can be handled by adopting an Ordinance. She encouraged the <br />Council to adopt an Ordinance on emergency to prevent the Planning <br />Department from being overloaded with modular home permits. She also <br />invited the Council to attend the reception on Saturday, August 17, 2003 <br />to honor the Dunbar District into the Historical District. 10) James <br />Molnoskey stated he wished to speak on Item ~31, a discussion regarding <br />modular homes. He provided a handout to the Council. He also encouraged <br />the Council to adopt a policy to notify neighborhood association <br />representatives of modular home permits. He stated he feels the Council <br />can void the permit they issued for the modular home on Conway. 11) Ivory <br />Foster stated she wished to speak on Item ~31, a discussion regarding <br />modular homes. She stated the Council was presented a petition at the <br />Regular City Council Meeting held on July 23, 2003. She stated she feels <br />the owner of the modular home on Conway violated the deed restrictions. <br />She encouraged the Council to have the modular home at 707 Conway moved. <br />12) Ernest Murry stated he wished to speak on Item ~35, a discussion <br />regarding disannexation of Subareas A and F. He stated he feels the City <br />has financial problems and is creating more problems by not disannexing <br />the entire area. He encouraged the Council to modify the Service Plan <br />before deciding whether to keep Subareas D and E. He encouraged the <br /> <br /> <br />
