The 1994-95 Sunset Advisory Commission has recommended that the City <br />Council rename. the Commission as the Citizen Advisory Commission, and revise the <br />scope of the Commission's review process to exclude limited purpose ad hoc boards and <br />commissions, and boards and commissions established in the City Charter. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Article IX, San Marcos Sunset Advisory Commission, of Chapter <br />. <br />2, Administration, of the San Marcos Code of Ordinances is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE IX. CITIZEN REVIEW COMMISSION <br /> <br />Sec. 2-135. Definitions. <br /> <br />In this division: <br /> <br />: City board. commission or committee means a board, commission or <br />committee created by the city council whose primary function is to advise the <br />city council. <br /> <br />Commission means the citizen review commission. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-136. Composition; appointment of members; officers. <br /> <br />(a) The citizen review commission is established every three years, <br />composed of seven citizens of the city who are appointed by the city council for <br />terms not to exceed 12 months. <br /> <br />(b) The commission members will elect a chairperson and vice- <br />chairperson within 30 days after their appointment. The commission may elect <br />from its membership other officers and committees as it may, from time to time, <br />determine necessary for the proper performance of its duties. <br /> <br />Sec. 2-137. Rules and regulations. <br /> <br />The commission will adopt the rules and regulations it deems best to govern <br />its actions, subject to the laws of the state and of this city. The rules and <br />regulations will be so that the following goals can be attained: <br /> <br />(1) Interview each member of each city board, commission or committee. <br />(2) Attend two meetings of each city board, commission or committee. <br />(3) Interview each city board, commission or committee staff liaison <br />person. <br />
