<br /> 56 I <br /> RESOLUTION 1994- 17 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOSr TEXASr APPROVING AN EMERGENCY PROCUREMENT <br /> OF SERVICES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF REPLACEMENT <br /> WATER VALVES IN DOWNTOWN SAN MARCOS IN ORDER TO <br /> PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY <br /> OF THE CITyrS RESIDENTS¡ APPROVING THE TERMS AND <br /> CONDITIONS OF AN AGREEMENT WITH MINEOLA VALVE AND <br /> HYD RA.1\TT COMP A.L\IY ¡ AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br /> EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. Approximately 31 water valves have been closed <br /> in downtowriSan Marcos in an attempt to shut down the water <br /> distribution system to allow Du-Mor Enterprises, Inc. <br /> (IIDu-Morll) to abandon old water mains in conjunction with the <br /> Downtown Water System Improvements Project. <br /> 2. Not enough of the 31 valves have been <br /> operational to permit Du-Mor to make the necessary <br /> connections to complete the project. . <br /> 3. Mineola Valve and Hydrant Co. uses a <br /> proprietary process which allows for the installation of a <br /> new valve on an active water main. <br /> 4. The installation of valves using this process <br /> will allow the Downtown Water System Improvements Project to <br /> be completed and water service to be provided to the downtown <br /> area using the new mains. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS r TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the emergency procurement of services <br /> for the installation of water valves in connection with the <br /> Downtown Water System Improvements Project to preserve and <br /> protect the public health and safety of the Cityrs residents <br /> is approved. <br /> PART 2. That an agreement between the City and <br /> Mineola Valve and Hydrant Company for the installation of <br /> replacement water valvesr a copy of which is attached to and <br /> incorporated in this Resolution for all intents and purposesr <br /> is approved. <br /> PART 3. That the City Managerr Larry D. Gil1eYr is <br /> authorized to execute the attached agreement on behalf of <br /> the City. <br /> PART 4.
