<br /> TJP <br /> -5- <br /> approval of the city Council. <br /> SECTION 16. That the election shall be held under, and in <br /> accordance with the provisions of, the Charter and Ordinances of <br /> the city of San Marcos, and in accordance with the laws of the <br /> State of Texas. <br /> SECTION ¡7. That a copy of this Ordinance signed by the Mayor <br /> of the city, attested by the city Secretary and approved by the <br /> City Attorney, shall serve as proper notice of the election. <br /> SECTION 18. That notice of the election including a Spanish <br /> translation thereof, shall be published'at least once in a <br /> newspaper published in San Marcos on or after April 7, 1994 and on <br /> or before April 27, 1994, shall be posted at a public place in <br /> each city election precinct in which the election is to be held on <br /> or before April 18, 1994, and shall be posted on the bulletin <br /> board at city Hall on or before April 18, 1994. <br /> SECTION 19. That a copy of this Ordinance shall be delivered <br /> on or before March 22, 1994 to the presiding judge of each <br /> election precinct in which the election is ordered to be held, <br /> which copy 'shall serve as a notice or writ of election as <br /> required by the Texas Election Code. ~ <br /> SECTION 20. That testing of the automatic tabulating <br /> equipment shall be performed and notice thereof shall be given in <br /> accordance with Subchapter D of Chapter 127 of the Texas Election <br /> Code. <br /> SECTION 21. That the rate of compensation to be paid judges, <br /> clerks, and assistants to the Tabulation Supervisor for services <br /> rendered during the joint general and special election by the <br /> city and the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District <br /> to be held on May 7, 1994 is hereby established at six Dollars <br /> ($6.00) per hour. <br /> SECTION 22. That the additional compensation to be paid judges <br /> who deliver returns of the election is hereby established at <br /> Twenty-Five Dollars ( $ 25 . 00). <br /> SECTION 23. That if any portion of this Ordinance is held <br /> invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining <br /> provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect. <br /> SECTION 24. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an <br /> emergency and an imperative public necessity so that the <br /> provisions of the charter requlrlng that ordinances shall be <br /> presented at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall <br /> become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following <br /> the date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions <br /> are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be <br /> in full force and effect from and after its adoption and after its <br /> publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the area. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this the 14th day of February , <br /> 1994. <br /> ~oW' V~ <br /> Mayor <br /> ~;¡ÞM~ {/¡,~ Approved:. <br /> 1~ß~ <br /> J n~s K.
