<br /> 17 <br /> RESOLUTION 1994- 159 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING A TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM <br /> GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION FOR A SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT <br /> PROGRAM (II STEP II); APPROVING THE CONTRIBUTION OF <br /> MATCHING FUNDS BY THE CITY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT AND RELATED <br /> - DOCUMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />I <br /> Recitals: <br />i <br /> 1. The Texas Department of Transportation (the <br /> II Department II) on behalf of the State of Texas, receives <br /> federal grant funds for the implementation of a statewide <br /> traffic safety program mandated by Title 23, Section 402 of <br /> the United States Code. <br /> 2. The Department administers these funds along <br /> with other funding sources to develop cooperative agreements <br /> with cities which have identified traffic safety problems and <br /> have developed projects to address these problems. <br /> 3. The City of San Marcos has identified roadways <br /> within the City's jurisdiction that have been found to have <br /> substantial degrees of noncompliance with posted speed <br /> limits. <br /> 4. The City has been notified that it is eligible <br /> to receive grant funds for a Speed STEP. <br /> 5. The City wishes to enter into a Texas Traffic <br /> Safety Program Grant Agreement-Speed STEP with the <br /> Department. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That a Texas Traffic Safety Program Grant <br /> Agreement between the City and the Department for a Speed <br /> STEP, a copy of which is attached to and incorporated in this <br /> resolution for all intents and purposes is approved. <br /> PART 2. That the City's match of $4,670.00 in <br /> fringe benefits and mileage reimbursements for FY 1995 is <br /> approved. <br /> PART 3. That the City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, or <br /> his authorized representative is authorized to execute the <br /> grant agreement and all other documents related to the Speed <br /> STEP on behalf of the City of San Marcos. <br /> PART 4.
