Contract No. _585xxF6085 <br /> CFDA Number - 20.600 <br /> State Grant Funds Charge No. (95)01-01-BI-FC <br /> Payee ID No. 17460022381000 <br /> (Form:oriy VID Number) <br /> TEXAS TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM <br /> GRANT AGREEMENT <br /> THE STATE OF '.TEXAS ~* -- . - - <br />, <br />, <br /> THE COUNTY OF TRAVIS ** <br /> THIS AGREEMENT IS MADE BY AND BETWEEN THE STATE OF TEXAS, acting by and <br /> through the Texas Department of Transportation, hereinafter called the Department, and <br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS , acting by and through its duly <br /> authorized officers, hereinafter called the Subgrantee. For the purpose of this agreement, the <br /> Subgrantee is designated as a(n) LOCAL GOVERNMENT <br /> <br /> 'WITNESSETH <br /> $ <br /> WHEREAS, the Department, as Grantee on behalf of the State of Texas, receives federal grant funds for <br /> implementation or the statewide traffic safety program mandated by Title 23, Section 402 of the United <br /> State Code; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Department administers these funds together with other funds which may be appropriat- <br /> ed by the Texas Legislature or received from other sources, to develop cooperative agreements with <br /> qualifying agencies (subgrantees) which have identified traffic safety problems and have developed <br /> projects to address these problems; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Article 6701j-l, Texas Civil Statutes, declares that the establishment, development, and <br /> maintenance of a program of traffic safety in Texas is a vital governmental purpose and function of the <br /> State and its legal and political subdivisions; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Governor of Texas has named the Executive Director of the Department as the State's <br /> representative to administer the Texas Traffic Safety Program; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Executive Director has formulated a program of projects for the current fiscal y~ar <br /> called the Highway Safety Plan (HSP), and the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) <br /> has approved the HSP and authorized the Department to proceed with implementation in accordance with <br /> approved procedures; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Department and the Subgrantee agree to implement a traffic safety project generally <br /> authorized in the HSP, said project described as a(n) SPEED STEP <br /> <br /> 07/94 Page 1 of 13 <br />
