~ ~ - "... ~ S!: .,~ ~. 4 7 u"""" -, U! ð -:. =::Æ ORDINANCE 1994 - 83 U -b ~ ':J ~ -J~ .~:?,~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN tU~ ~ ï:=~ MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET ORDINANCE . <if, QQ FOR THE 1994-1995 FISCAL YEAR TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE PATROL DIVISION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT BY ONE¡ AMENDING SECTION 2-31 OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF ORDINANCES TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS WITHIN THE CLASSIFICATION OF POLICE OFFICER TO 30 AND TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS WITH THE CLASSIFICATION OF CORPORAL TO 16 ¡ PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY ¡ REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES¡ PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION¡ AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. RECITALS: 1. In accordance with Section 8.16 of the City Charter of the City of San Marcos, Texas, the City Council declares that a public necessity exists which requires amendment of the City's 1994-95 budget. .' . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Budget for the 1994-95 is amended as shown in the attached Exhibit A to increase the number of authorized police officers in the Patrol Division of the Police Department by one. ~ SECTION 2. That Section 2-31 of the Code of Ordinances is amended to increase the number of authorized positions within the classification of Police Officer from 24 positions to 30 positions and to increase the number of authorized positions within the classification of Corporal from 14 positions to 16 positions. SECTION 3. That if any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held to be unconstitutional or invalid by. a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this ordinance shall remain in effect as if the unconstitutional or invalid portion had not been adopted. SECTION 4. That all ordinances and resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. That the importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity so that the prOVlSlons of the Charter requlrlng that ordinances shall be presented at three separate meetings and that no ordinance shall become effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage be suspended, and these provisions are hereby suspended, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the City as provided by the City Charter of the City of San Marcos.
