<br />¡:J ;¡ 0 ~ ~ OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND
<br />!w~ ~ >-15 DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD
<br />~ ;i ~ ;::;~ ON MAY 1, 1993 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A
<br />~- CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE THREE, AND- A CITY
<br />COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE FOUR; AND DECLARING AN
<br />EMERGENCY.

<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, by
<br />ordinance duly enacted on February 8, 1993, ordered that a General
<br />election be held on May 1, 1993 for the purpose of electing a city
<br />Council Member, Place Three and a city Council Member, Place Four;
<br />and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, notice of this election was duly published in the San
<br />Marcos Daily Record on April 11, 1993; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, copies of this notice were duly posted at each city
<br />election precinct polling place prior to the election, and a copy
<br />of the notice was posted on the bulletin board at~ity Hall on
<br />March 29, 1993; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, this election was duly and legally held on the 1st
<br />day of May, 1993, in conformity with the election laws of the State
<br />of Texas, and the results of the election have been certified and
<br />returned by the proper judges and clerks thereof; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the city Council of the city of San Marcos, Texas
<br />with the following members present: Kathy M. Morris, Betty Kissler,
<br />Ron Hart, Rick Hernandez, Billy G. Moore,
<br />and Fred Guerra has today considered the returns of
<br />the General election held on the 1st day of May, 1993; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it appears to the council, and the Council so finds,
<br />that the election was in all respects lawfully held; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so finds,
<br />that the tabulation of the results of the election is correct; now,
<br />therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS:
<br />
<br />SECTION 1. That the General city election of May 1, 1993 was
<br />duly called, that notice of the election was given in accordance
<br />with law, and that the election was held in accordance with law.
<br />
<br />SECTION 2. That the tabulation of votes cast in the General
<br />election held on May 1, 1993 for the purpose of electing a city
<br />Council Member, Place Three, and a city council Member, Place Four,
<br />made and certified to by the city Secretary of the City of San
<br />Marcos, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof,
<br />is hereby adopted as the official tabulation of the votes cast at
<br />the election, and that the tabulation be filed and recorded in the
<br />official records of the city of San Marcos as the official canvass
<br />of the election.
<br />
<br />SECTION 3. That the official canvass of the returns of the
<br />election reflects the following:
<br />
<br />A. That none of the candidates for city Council Member,
<br />Place Three of the City of San Marcos received a majority
<br />of the votes cast for that place, and that the following
<br />two (2) candidates received the greatest number of votes
<br />for that place:
