TO: Elected Officials of all National League of Cities (NLC) Direct , Member Cities in Texas' ~ FROM: Frank J. Sturzl, Executive Director ~ ~~ SUBJECf: Nominations for NLC Board and NLC Committees As you probably know, TML has certain policies which govern NLC committee appointments and NLC Board nominations. (A complete set of those policies is attached for your information.) Since those policies set out certain deadlines which must be met, I am sending this memo as a reminder of the. procedures and deadlines. Any individual seeking endorsement by the TML Board for a position on the NLC Board must communicate such interest in writing to the TML staff no later than two weeks prior to the Fall TML Board meeting, at which the Board will make its endorsements. Since the TML Board will meet on November 3, 1993, all written expressions of interest in serving on the NLC Board must be received by the close of business on October 19. 1993. Please send any correspondence to my attention. The TML Board will endorse no more than three candidates in anyone year and will not endorse more than one candidate from a single city. In addition, certain criteria must be met in order to obtain the endorsement of the TML Board. Please read the attachment carefully. TML's endorsed nominee(s), along with many other nominees from across the nation, will be considered by NLC's NominatIng Committee at the Congress of Cities Meeting in Orlando in early December. The election of NLC Board members will take place at the Annual Business Meeting in Orlando. It is important to note that if you have previously been endorsed by TML for a seat on the NLC Board. those endorsements do not carry forward. and you must now seek another endorsement. 211 East Seventh.
