<br />- I~F <br />. 1>.s of June 30, 1992, Healthcare, by and through its subsidiary Brown <br /> Management, operated fourteen psychiatric and rehabilitation hospitals, as <br /> well as six non-hospital residential facilities. The Erown Schools of San <br /> Marcos, Inc. the Debtor in this case, is one of eleven psychiatric hospitals <br /> which provide a continuum of mental health services including crisis <br /> evaluation and intervention, acute psychiatric inp?tient treatment, <br /> intermediate and residential psychiatric treatment, day hospi tal, outpatient <br /> mental health services, and after care. Programs include specialized services <br /> for child, adolescent and adult patients, as well as for patients with <br /> chemical dependency and multiple psychiatric diagnosis. <br /> In particular, The Erown Schools of San Marcos, Inc., the Debtor in this <br /> case is the subsidiary corporation which operates the facility known as San <br /> Marcos Treatment Center, which is a Erown Schools Psychiatric Hospital. The <br /> San Marcos Treatment Center is a psychiatric hospital offering intermediate to <br /> longer-term services for pre-adolescents, adolescents and young adults. <br /> Licensed at 265 beds, the hospital is located between 1>.ustin and San Antonio, <br /> Texas, on a 52-acre campus. The hospital specializes in treating <br /> difficult-to-manage patients who have experienced multiple hospitalizations <br /> and who have not had adequate success in short-term facilities. <br /> E. Overview of the Debtor's Business - <br /> San Marcos Treatment Center (SMTC), a Brown Schools Neuropsychiatric <br /> Hospital, specializes in treating patients with neuropsychiatric disorders. <br /> The hospital provides services for severely emotionally disturbed children, <br /> adolescents and young adults, ages 5-23, who have a prior ~istory of treatment <br /> failures and who generally require more than a short-term length of stay. <br /> The hospital's continuum of care includes the following programs: <br /> 1>... Short-term Evaluation and Treatment Plan Prescription Program. <br /> B. Neuropsychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment. <br /> C. Polycomorbidity Personality Disorders Hospital and Residential <br /> Treatment. <br /> I <br /> D. Young 1>.dult Hospital and Residential Treatment. <br /> Special programs are provided for patients with emotional disturbances <br /> compounded by learning disabilities, neurological impairments or seizure <br /> disorders, and for those with severe behavioral problems, including acting <br /> out, aggressive, assualtive or suicidal behaviors. Chemical dependency, <br /> sexual abuse and young adult schizophrenic programs also are available. <br /> Hospital facilities include comfortable, semiprivate living units, an <br /> admissions unit, an educational complex, a la-acre ROPES Challenge Course, a <br /> dining room, a dental clinic, medical treatment rooms, and administrative and <br /> - 5 - <br /> a-2015S <br />
