<br /> 17 <br /> RESOLUTION 1993- 186 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, RATIFYING A SETTLEMENT <br /> AGREEMENT REGARDING PENDING LITIGATION <br /> INVOLVING THE STATE BARRATRY STATUTE; AND <br /> DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City has become involved in pending litigation <br /> challenging recent revisions to the State Barratry statute and <br /> Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal League has undertaken the defense <br /> of the city's interests, and has recommended that the city agree to <br /> a settlement which will avoid further city involvement in the suit; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the execution and submission by the City <br /> Attorney, Mark B. Taylor, of the consent to proposed settlement <br /> attached to this resolution is ratified. <br /> . <br /> PART 2.
