l b?V
BUDGET NARRATIVE
Personnel
A senior patrol officer position has been selected as most appropriate to
the assignment. San Marcos city pay grade 19C was selected. It should be
noted that the employee. finally selected may be in a pay grade 1;1igher or
lower than the above. This pay grade is central to the rank and selected
for computational purposes.
Overtime
The officer will be required from time to time to attend after school
functions which will require the payment of overtime. Such functions as
PT A and .PTO meetings, athletic contest and school sponsored social
gatherings are events that might be appropriate for this expenditure.
Fringe
Fringe benefits identified are standard City of San Marcos benefits from
the Human Resources Department.
~
Travel
Travel to other Texas cities to learn about gangs, child abuse, mediation,
counselling and other related issues is reimbursable by the City at $ .28
per mile. Some air travel may be necessary for selected out-of-town
training. Hotel accommodations and meals are reimbursable based on
actual cost.
Training ,
The officer selected to perform this function will need specialized training
on a variety of topics dealing with youth. While much of this training is
available in the state, some out-of-state training is anticipated. San Marcos
Police Department normally budgets about $1,000 per year for training
each officer with the vast majority of this training done locally. The kind
of specialized training anticipated for this assignment should cost more.
19
