All assets included will be inventoried on either a unit-or group-controlled basis. 2.5.3 Tagging The CONSULTANT shall furnish a sufficient number of Metalcraft plastic laminate asset tags, in order to complete the initial inventory. The tags shall identify the item as "Property of the City of San Marcos", contain a 6-digit serial number in both arabic numerals and bar coding and shall be resistant to removal and tampering. Old tags presently on assets shall be left in place and recorded by the CONSULTANT. All tag numbers shall be sequential beginning with 000001. All numbers shall be accounted for in any written report generated under this Agreement. Any damaged tags not used shall be surrendered along with the final written report to the City's Purchasing Manager upon completion of this agreement. False or generic numbers shall not be used under any circumstances. CONSULTANT shall supply the CITY with a minimum of 1,000 additional tags at no additional expense to the CITY for use in tagging fixed assets after the completion of this Agreement. 2.5.3.1 Exceptions Consistent tagging practices shall be followed unless the following factors make it impractical or impossible to tag: Appearance Heavy Wear Obliteration Unsuitable Surface Area Size Chemical Presence Electrical or Security (Undercover Items) Electronic Interference Similarly Grouped Items 2.5.3.2 Tagging Procedures The CONSULTANT shall place tag numbers adjacent to the equipment manufacturer's LD. plate. If this is not possible, the tag number shall be placed away from h,eavy exposure or wear areas or in a place which does not detract from the equipment's appearance. CONSULTANT shall place tags in consistent locations so that numbers may be easily located during inventory. The CONSULTANT shall record existing tag numbers when available and provide the City with a list of any tags not used, voided, or assigned.
