<br />42 <br /> <br />RESOIDTION NO. 1981-5R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD <br />ON THE 4TH DAY OF APRIL, 1981 FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING OFFICIALS <br />FOR SAID CITY AND ESTABLISHING <br />PROCEDURES FOR SAID ELECTION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas provide that on April <br />4, 1981, there shall be elected the following officials for <br />this City: <br /> <br />Council Member, Place 3 <br />Council Member, Place 4; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas further provide that the <br />Election Code of the State of Texas is applicable to said election, <br />and in order to comply with said Code, an order should be passed <br />establishing the procedure to be followed in said election, and <br />designating the voting places and presiding officials for said <br />election; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN !1ARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That all independent candidates at the election to be <br />held on the first Saturday in April, April 4, 1981, for the <br />above mentioned offices file their application to become candidates <br />for Council Member Place 3 and Council Member Place 4 with the Mayor <br />of this City at City Hall, on or before 30 days before the date <br />of said election. <br /> <br />PART 2. That all of said applications shall be substantially in <br />the following form: <br /> <br />"To the Mayor of the City of San Marcos, Texas: <br /> <br />I hereby request that my name be placed upon the <br />official ballot for the election to be held on the <br />4th day of April, 1981, as a candidate for Place <br />Council Member of said City. I hereby certify <br />that-r am above the age of 18 years, a qualified <br />elector and have resided 12 months next preceding <br />said election in said City, and I am eligible to hold <br />office under the Constitution of this State. <br /> <br />DATED this the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1981. <br /> <br />N~~E OF CANDIDATE <br /> <br />RECEIVED the <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />, 1981. <br /> <br />Mayor" <br /> <br />PART 3. That all candidates shall file with said application the <br />loyalty affidavit required by Article 6.02 of the Election Code. <br /> <br />PART 4. That the Secretary of this City shall, in accordance <br />with the terms and provisions of Article 13.32 of the Election <br />Code, post in her office the names of all candidates who have <br />filed their applications in accordance with the terms and <br />provisions of this order, and said names shall be posted at a <br />conspicious place in said office for at least 10 days before said <br />Secretary orders the same to beeprinted on the ballot for said <br />election. <br />
