94
MA Y 2t'¡'ì992
ENT
vjCr:
This agreement, dated 22 May 1992, is between the City of San
Marcos ("City") and Southwest Texas State University ("SWT").
1. Background
1.01 The City has determined that a program of professional
services to maintain the San Marcos River would be in the public
interest and help free the river from trash, sediments, and
unnecessary bogs of vegetation and clippings. The program would
also provide a constant environment for aquatic life.
1.02 SWT's Department of Aquatic Biology has the professional
services to undertake this program and to perform the services
described in this agreement.
2. Responsibilities

2.01 SWT, in coordination with the City's Parks and Recreation
Department, will perform stewardship and maintenance services for
the San Marcos River from its headwaters to the IH-35 bridge.
Specifically, SWT will:
1. appoint a steward and engage student workers to provide
river stewardship and maintenance services. The steward will
coordinate SWT's activities under this agreement, supervise student
employees, and conduct educational programs;
2. participate in the city-sponsored clean-up of the river;
3. conduct graduate level courses dealing with the ecology of
the river;
