<br /> San Marcos Public Library <br /> LSCA Title II Preapplication <br /> Page 3, Part IV <br /> PROCRAM NARRATIVE: <br /> The City of San Marcos is currentlt served by a sin~le 12,074 square foot library which <br /> was constructed in 1966. This faå ity is only 41 % 0 the square footage recommended <br /> by TLA standards for communities of our SIZe. <br /> In 1988 the library contracted Hiddell Architects of Dallas to prepare preliminary <br /> schematic designs, a site plan, and cost estimates for a new 27,000 square foot library to <br /> replace our existing faålity. The new library will be constructed on å?¡-owned <br /> property at an estimated cost of $ 2,885,000. A letter from the Hiddell 'rm <br /> aocumenting this cost estimate is available at the library. <br /> Authorization to sell a total of $ 2,585,000 in general obligation bonds for library <br /> improvements has been granted through two separate bond elections.
