<br /> 39 <br /> RESOLUTION 1991- 50 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE WORK OF <br /> THE TELEPHONE FRANCHISE STEERING COMMITTEE 7 <br /> AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />ViHEREAS, the City has a public responsibility to <br />protect the public rights-of-way and easements and to require <br />the private utility companies within the City to assume <br />certain duties and responsibilities regarding such easements <br />and rights-of-way by means of reasonable terms and conditions <br />in a franchise ordinance7 and, <br />WHEREAS, a steering committee of Texas cities is being <br />formed to share information, develop a model ordinance, <br />obtain special legal and auditing counsel and provide further <br />assistance to the member cities in the adoption of franchise <br />ordinances with telephone utility companies in order to meet <br />the responsibility described above. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. That the City Council supports the work of the <br />Telephone Franchise Steering Committee described above. <br />PART 2.
