RATINGS OF CITY, NEIGHBORHOOD, AND CITY GOVERNMENT
Respondents were asked to evaluate the extent to which
they believe city government effectively "responds" to the
city's major issues, the degree to which city government can
be trusted to do what is "right," and the extent to which the
city "pays attention" to what people think when they make
decisions. Results are shown in Table 9.
[See Table 9]
The city receives fairly strong evaluations on all
these issues, as Table 9 indicates. Over 40% believe the
city responds in an lIexcellent" or "good" manner to major
problems, over 50% believe they can trust city government to
do what is right "just about always" or "most of the time,"
and over 80% believe that city officials pay "a good deal" or
at least "some" attention to what people think when they make
decisions. Table 9a considers these responses for the
various categories examined in this report.
[See Table 9a]
Some interesting variances to these questions are
noted when examining the responses in Table 9a. In all cases
students are slightly more supportive of city officials

34
