The average age of <br /> residential respondents is 43.5 (median, 40.0), with an <br /> average household size of, just under three. Other than San <br /> Harcos, the city of principal employment is Austin, and the <br /> average number of miles travelled to work for those working <br /> outside of San Marcos is 34.0. <br /> Over half of the respondents report an income of <br /> $40,000 or less, and virtually half (49.9%) report having <br /> received at least one college degree. Most (67.7%) report <br /> owning their own home, and most (71. 6%) live in a single <br /> family housing structure (in contrast with those living in <br /> duplexes, apartments, and other multi-family housing units). <br /> Twenty two and one-half percent report "education" as <br /> describing the nature of their job.
