Regular Meeting July 3, 2007 Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Mr. O'Leary stated the Council <br />received an update and provided directions regarding the Hunter Road area <br />and Project Ribbon. He stated the Council will discuss the remaining items <br />after the public meeting. <br />Pastor John McComb of the San Marcos Community Church lead the Invocation. <br />The 2007, 7 and 8 year olds, Pinto All -Star Softball Team lead the Pledge <br />of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Krista Salas <br />stated she is a parent whose daughter plays on the 2007 7 and 8 year olds <br />Pinto All -Star Softball Team. She introduced the players and the Coaches <br />and reviewed their accomplishments. She stated they have qualified to play <br />in a tournament in Louisiana, which they will be raising funds for. She <br />provided information on the different events they will be hosting to raise <br />funds. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated Summerfest <br />has enacted their rain plan for this year's 4th of July Celebration. He <br />stated all July 4th activities will be moved into City Park Recreation <br />Building and the Fireworks have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 7, <br />2007. He stated the firing zone has been moved by the Softball /Baseball <br />Complex. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Mr. Thomaides <br />provided a disk of the University /Community Best Practice Conference. He <br />stated the disk has all the best practices, websites and email addresses. <br />He also encouraged the Council Members to attend next year. 2) Ms. Couch <br />thanked everyone who participated in the Hotel /Motel Occupancy Tax Workshop <br />on June 29th. She stated she heard a lot and is looking forward to putting <br />into place what she learned. 3) Mr. Bose stated he was grateful for living <br />in the United States. He stated we can disagree with one another, but we <br />can live together in peace. 4) Ms. Robertson stated she also participated <br />in Hotel /Motel Occupancy Tax and the Economic Development Workshop. She <br />stated she was glad the City held these Workshops to air all the issues. 5) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she appreciated the Guerrero Family for allowing the <br />City to honor them. 6) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the TML <br />Legislative Update. She stated she knows the Interim City Attorney and <br />City Manager are looking at legislation that goes into effect now and <br />September 1, 2007. She stated there are many changes, which will be <br />presented during a future Council Meeting. 7) Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />started Mondays with the Mayor which will be held every Monday from 6:00 to <br />8:00. She stated she held the first one at the Price Center, which she <br />thanked the Yaegers for letting her use the facility. <br />
