<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2007 - 132 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS DECLARING THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS TO HAVE A POPULATION OVER 50,000 <br />PERSONS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City of San Marcos, Texas has been experiencing a growth rate <br />averaging nearly 5% per year since 2000. <br /> <br />2. Planning and Development services has been tracking the City's population <br />by using the 2000 census as a base rate and adjusting that rate based on issuance of <br />certificates of occupancy, demolition permits, and occupancy rates for multi-family <br />residences. <br /> <br />3. At the end of June 2007, the population of the City of San Marcos stood at <br />50,016 persons. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. The City Council for the City of San Marcos, Texas declares the City to <br />have a population in excess of 50,000, an expanded Extraterritorial Jurisdiction to three <br />and one-half (3 % ) miles, and all the responsibilities and benefits thereof. <br /> <br />PART 2.
