1.5. Housing <br />According to the 2006 - 2010 <br />ACS estimates (5 -year average), <br />the total number of housing units <br />in the city was 17,304 with 8.3 <br />percent vacant units. As shown in <br />Table 1.7, to the right, there were <br />13,320 housing units in ban <br />Marcos in 2000. Over 13 percent of the housing stock is more <br />than 50 years old, built prior to 1960. About 21 percent of the housing stock was built <br />prior to 1970. Based on national standards, these units may contain lead -based <br />paint or likely be in need of repairs and maintenance. <br />20 <br />
