<br />to prepare formal contract documents for construction contracts. <br /> <br />4. Assist OWNER in conducting pre-construction conference(s) with the <br />Contractor(s), review construction schedules prepared by the <br />Contractor(s) pursuant to the requirements of the construction <br />contract, and prepare a proposed estimate of monthly cash requirements <br />of the Project. <br /> <br />5. Make one (1) visit each month to the site (as distinguished from the <br />continuous services of a Resident Project Representative) to observe <br />the progress and the quality of work and to attempt to determine in <br />genera 1 if the work is proceedi ng in accordance with the Contract <br />Documents. If ENGINEER is requested to visit the site more frequently <br />than the specified number of visits each month, the requested visits <br />shall be considered an Additional Service and ENGINEER shall be <br />entitled to additional compensation. <br /> <br />6. In performing the services outlined above, ENGINEER will endeavor to <br />protect OWNER against defects and deficiencies in the work of <br />Contractors; ENGINEER will report any observed deficiencies to OWNER, <br />however, it is understood that ENGINEER does not guarantee the <br />Contractor's performance, nor is ENGINEER responsible for supervision <br />of the Contractor's operation and employees. ENGINEER shall not be <br />responsible for the means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures <br />of construction selected by the Contractor, or the safety precautions <br />and programs incident to the work of the Contractor. ENGINEER shall <br />not be responsible for the acts or omissions of any person (except his <br />own employees or agent) at the Project site or otherwise performing any <br />of the work of the Project. Nevertheless, should ENGINEER become aware <br />of the Contractor's utilization of means, methods, techniques, <br />sequences, and/or procedures of the construction which, in ENGINEER's <br />opinion will not result in completion'of the Project in accordance with <br />the construction contract documents, ENGINEER shall inform the OWNER <br />and shall take all necessary action requested by OWNER which the <br />ENGINEER is authorized to take to correct the matter. <br /> <br />7. Coordi nate the work of testing 1 aboratori es and i nspecti on bureaus <br />required for the testing or inspection of materials, witnessed tests, <br />factory testing, etc. for quality control of the Project. The cost of <br />such quality control shall be paid by OWNER and is not included in the <br />services to be performed by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />8. Consult with and advise OWNER during construction, make recommendations <br />to OWNER regarding materials and workmanship, and prepare change orders <br />with OWNER's approval. Change orders shall be submitted to OWNER in <br />triplicate originals. <br /> <br />4 <br />
