October 28, 1991
Charles Rodriguez, Chairman
Board of Directors
Edwards Underground Water District
1615 N. St. Mary I s Street
P.O. Box 15830
San Antonio, Texas 78212-9030
Dear Mr. Rodriguez and Members of the Board:
The City of San Marcos is submitting a request for the
participation of the Edwards Underground Water District in the
surface water treatment plant project now in the development
phase. Approved by San Marcos voters in 1990, the surface water
treatment plant is expected to go on line in 1995-96 and will
replace a minimum of 50% of our use of water from the Edwards
Aquifer.
The City of San Marcos and the Edwards Underground Water District
have enjoyed many years of a productive working relationship
through our mutual efforts to preserve, protect and conserve the
Edwards Aquifer. The City appreciates the on-going support
offered by the Edwards Underground Water District through your
regional programs to promote cons~rvation, drought management,
leak detection, investigation of recharge, and aquifer management
issues.
The San Marcos surface water treatment plant represents the
serious commitment of our citizens in the preservation of the
Edwards Aquifer for the future. The participation of the Edwards
Underground Water District in this project will enable the City of
San Marcos to achieve its goal to utilize alternate sources of
surface water as a significant means to preserve the Edwards
Aquifer.
We will appreciate your favorable consideration of our request.
Sincerely,
~i~~Y~
City Hall .. 630 East Hopkins" San Marcos, Texas 78666 .. 512/353-4444 ..
