Allen Parkway <br /> <br />January 22, <br /> <br />1990 <br /> <br />To the Mayor and City Council of San Marcos: <br /> <br />The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, consisting of approximately <br /> <br />800 members of which the majority are small businesses, has <br /> <br />always recognized the importance and tremendous contributions <br /> <br />that small businesses have made to our community. <br /> <br />Accordingly, <br /> <br />the City Council has recognized the vital role of a progressive <br /> <br />and growing downtown, as the City of San Marcos has funded the <br /> <br />San Marcos Main Street Program for the past five years. <br /> <br />While economic development has always been a priority of our <br /> <br />city, our community leadership and community at large have <br /> <br />renewed their commitment effectively and successfully during <br /> <br />the past two years. <br /> <br />The success that we have enjoyed is the result of an aggressive <br /> <br />economic development program designed to retain and enhance our <br /> <br />economy and our quality of life by generating productive <br /> <br />employment opportunities and the expansion of our tax base. <br /> <br />Competition in today's economic development arena is strong! <br /> <br />Negotiating an attractive incentive package is necessary and even <br />
